What is the maximum file size?
There is no fixed limit. Because there is no upload, the practical ceiling is your device's memory. Multi-hour recordings work fine on a desktop; very long files on an older phone may be slow.
Which formats can I trim?
MP3, WAV, M4A/AAC, FLAC and OGG. Each exports in the same format it came in — trimming an MP3 gives you an MP3, trimming a WAV gives you a WAV.
How accurate is the cut?
Start and end points snap outward to the nearest packet boundary, which is about 26 milliseconds for MP3 and less for other formats. That is inaudible for music and speech. If you need sample-exact boundaries for a gapless loop, you'll want a full editor.
Can I make a ringtone with this?
Yes — that's one of the most common uses. Trim the section you want, keep it around 30 seconds, and download. On iPhone you'll then need to convert the clip to .m4r in your phone's file app or in iTunes; on Android you can set the MP3 as a ringtone directly.
Why can't I see the waveform on my browser?
Drawing the waveform needs WebCodecs, which older browsers lack — Safari added it in 16.4. Trimming itself doesn't need it, so on an unsupported browser you'll see a flat bar and can still set the range with the timestamp fields.
