How accurate is the BPM finder?
Our BPM finder is highly accurate for songs with a clear, steady beat — most pop, dance, hip-hop, and electronic music. For tracks with complex or shifting rhythms, check the alternate tempo candidates we show, as the true tempo may be a half-time or double-time value.
How does the key finder detect the musical key?
It builds a chroma profile (the relative energy of all 12 pitch classes) from your song's audio, then compares it against the 24 standard major and minor key profiles using the Krumhansl-Schmuckler algorithm. The closest match is reported as the song's key.
Is my audio file uploaded to a server?
No. All analysis happens locally inside your browser using the Web Audio API. Your file never leaves your device, which makes the tool completely private and very fast.
What is a Camelot code?
The Camelot wheel is a system DJs use to mix songs in harmonically compatible keys. Each key maps to a code like 8A or 5B. Tracks with adjacent Camelot numbers (or the same number) blend together smoothly.
